GoldBee and Sphere Media Partner on Global Distribution of Project Rube

GoldBee has acquired the global distribution rights, excluding Canada, to “Project Rube” (26 x 11′), the live-action STEM series produced by Toronto-based Sphere Media and commissioned by TVOkids in Canada. The deal adds a second Sphere Media factual kids title to GoldBee’s growing catalogue, following the distributor’s recent international launch of “Burps, Butts and Bones.”

Hosted by maker and YouTube personality Morley Kert, “Project Rube” follows a team of young inventors as they design and build increasingly elaborate Rube Goldberg machines to complete simple, everyday tasks — from cracking an egg to opening an umbrella. Combining hands-on engineering, trial-and-error problem solving and plenty of humor, the series encourages children to embrace creativity, persistence and the value of failure as part of the invention process.

Christophe Goldberger, Founding Managing Director of GoldBee, said: “Project Rube is exactly the kind of hands-on, curiosity-driven content that gets kids excited about STEM without ever feeling like a lesson. Building on the momentum of our partnership with Sphere Media on Burps, Butts and Bones, we’re thrilled to bring this inventive, funny and genuinely educational series to broadcasters and platforms around the world.”

Andrea Griffith, Vice President of Content and Development at Sphere Media’s Kids and Family division, added: “Project Rube has resonated strongly with audiences on TVOkids thanks to its blend of ingenuity, humor and real problem-solving. Partnering with GoldBee again gives the series the international reach it deserves and connects it with broadcasters who share our commitment to smart, engaging content for kids.”

“Project Rube” was commissioned by TVOkids in Canada and produced by Sphere Media, with Morley Kert hosting a team of tweens as they engineer chain-reaction contraptions using found and everyday materials. The series comprises 26 x 11-minute episodes and is produced in English.

Under the new agreement, GoldBee holds global distribution rights to “Project Rube,” with the exception of Canada, and will begin introducing the series to broadcasters and platforms internationally.
